Welcome to the

Collaborative Corner!

To collaborate means to work together
Welcome to the South Paris Collaborative website!

Welcome to 2009!  It is hard to believe we are moving into a new year already.  This has been a busy school year!

We have completed some amazing projects.  Our Sign of the Beaver projects were presented in December and can be found on our wiki.  Our Constitution projects are being presented the first week in January.  Those can be viewed on our website.  See the sidebar link to the Constitution page.  We are continuing social studies with Westward Expansion.  We have some exciting plans for this unit, including some work with Google Earth, connections with our friends in Connecticut, and some collaborative projects in class.

In writing, we are finishing up our favorite teacher stories.  We used these stories to learn about adding voice to our pieces.  We will be creating photostories in January so be sure to keep checking back for our finished products.

In math, we are continuing to learn about how decimals, fractions, and percents all relate to each other.  More advanced mathematics are coming into our lessons now so keep watching our website for examples of our classwork.

We are continuing our collaborative project for the Presidential election.  We are meeting with smaller groups online and creating a script for a video. This video will be sent to President-Elect Obama once he is in office.  We want him to hear from us about what we think is important for this country.  You will be able to view our completed video

on our website sidebar

In science, we are moving into our light unit.  Our lessons, pictures, and video can be viewed on our sidebar.

Finally, we are beginning our second core book, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.  This is part of the Chronicles of Narnia and will kick off our fantasy unit.  Watch our blogs for book discussions about fantasy books in reading groups.

Keep questioning everything!  It's the only way to learn.
