Summer 2010
Dear Families,
Welcome to a new school year at Searingtown School. We hope that you all had a restful and enjoyable summer.
Either Mrs. Redito or Mrs. Livingston’s name appeared on the card you received this summer, and this teacher will be your child’s “base” or “homeroom” teacher. Your child, however, will have both of us as their teachers this year. Mrs. Livingston will be your child’s reading and writing teacher. Mrs. Redito will be your child’s math and social studies teacher. Science and health will be taught by the “homeroom” teacher. We will explain in further detail how this program will work at Back to School Night. We encourage you to attend!
We’ve had much time to relax since school ended in June, and we feel refreshed and ready for a fantastic year! Our ultimate goal for this year is for the children in our classes to grow socially, emotionally, and academically, while loving school at the same time. Students in our classes will be challenged to think critically and creatively, solve problems efficiently, and express themselves in all subject areas. We will focus on developing 21st century skills, including organization, adaptability, collaboration, and innovation…just to name a few.
On the first day of school, we will send home information about classroom routines and activities that you may want to know about as the year begins. We will also send home a survey and dismissal sheet for you to fill out. Please look for it when your child comes home on the first day of school.
The summer months have given us the time to plan, imagine, create, and prepare for the upcoming year. All of this preparation has now turned into the reality of a wonderful year to come. We look forward to working with you and your children.
Sincerely,
Marisa Livingston Neepa Redito
