Fifth Grade Math Olympiads

Math Olympiads is an internationally known club with a variety of goals.  They may include:

  • Developing an enthusiasm for problem solving and mathematics
  • Contributing to cognitive development
  • Enriching experiences in stimulating activities

Students are engaged in creative problem activities that help develop a child’s ability to reason, be logical, and to be resourceful.  In addition, Math Olympiad students participate in nationally administered monthly contests.

We meet once a week, on Wednesday afternoons from 3:15-4:15.  Students are expected to be picked up promptly at 4:15pm.  Our first meeting date will be in October.  A notice with a permission slip attached will be sent home with each student.  Because of limitations to team size, students will be admitted to the club on a first come, first served basis.  The supplies needed for our club are 2 pencils and a folder to keep our practice contests.

Math Olympiads is open to any fifth grade student from Searingtown School who enjoys the fun of mathematics and the challenge of problem solving.

If you have any questions about this program, please don’t hesitate to contact me.  I can be reached by note through your child’s teacher.

Sincerely,

Mr. Dugger
