French Classes and Club Raise Funds for Haitian Orphanage
Thanks to the efforts of the students enrolled in French, the French department and club raised $1,200. During the last month, members of the French club have made individual cards for each of the 15 orphans to introduce themselves and start what is hoped to be a ongoing exchange with them. In addition, they have been making toys for them which will be sent along with the cards, a check and textbooks donated by an anonymous donor. The effort was spearheaded by D.Pelia who interned with the organization “Orphan International”, founded by Jim Luce in 1999 as a response to the global crisis facing orphaned children.
